In January 2022, I decided to joined Hawaiʻi Peopleʻs Fund (who's turning 50 yrs old this year!!), once again as they embarked on a 2nd leg of the Giving Project journey to radically transform the way $$ moves to place-based non-profit organizations and community doing initiatives that directly support wellbeing for place & people here in Hawai'i. Figure it's one way I can do something about all the upheaval and accelerating adversities happening around me and in the world, by grounding to what's good right here at home...my beloved Hawai'i nei.
If you know me, you know I got a thing for 'āina, arts & equity work!
The Giving Project is resourcing grassroots community doers and makers, movers and shakers...work that is led by the people most impacted by injustice and working towards transformative systemic change in Hawai'i. We movin' resources to organizations that:
- …are led by the people most directly affected by the issues they are addressing
- …continually build leadership from within their own communities, membership, and support base
- …actively address the root causes of inequity impacting Hawaiʻi, not just the symptoms
- …bring people together to build power collectively
- …use that power to create transformative systemic change
Whether its energy justice, protecting natural resources, food security, cultivating culturally-based birthing practices, language reclamation, nature-based educational programs through sailing and navigation...here's a chance to support efforts that make ya feel good inside and out...you can check out the eco-system of community groups and even specify who you want your gift to go to!! This is my kahea (call-in), asking my beloved friends and family near and far to show some love, and give a gift of gratitude through this fund-shifting effort I'm a part of.
