No work is too big when done together by all

Why we're here

Last year, I wrote about Mark Zuckerberg's ruthless Kauaʻi land grab and how our legal/political/economic systems favor ultra-wealthy, powerful people like Zuck — and the huge cost WE ALL pay as a result.

If you're like me, you've read countless stories like this about climate change, racism, sexism, and so many other types of inequality, but felt paralyzed and powerless to do anything about it.

A few months ago, I quit my job to wrestle with exactly that question: what can I possibly do about such massive problems? On my own... not much, it turns out.

BUT, in January, I joined Hawaiʻi People's Fund's 2022 Giving Project: a diverse group of community members working together to help HPF support everything from environmental justice to community health to education to civil and indigenous rights. HPF champions "change not charity," funding organizations tackling the root causes of systemic issues and led by the people most impacted by these issues.

Last year's Giving Project raised more than $180,000, a testament to how much more we can accomplish together.

By supporting this campaign, you'll join me, HPF, the Giving Project, and our community — Hawaiʻi residents AND visitors alike — in our collective work to leave this special place better for future generations.

How YOU can help

Help me reach my fundshifting goal: $46,255

This goal represents the 46,255 Native Hawaiians that the US still owes land to after 100 years of broken promises.

I've kicked it off with my own "makana aloha" (meaningful gift) of $10,000, but I encourage everyone to give a gift that feels meaningful to YOU.
