When i joined the Hawaiʻi Peopleʻs Fund ʻohana in 2016, i had no idea how it would transform my life. For years, i had worked at grassroots nonprofits that depended on grant funding and small contributions to survive, adding to the already difficult work of serving community and offering up alternative ways of being in our communities. And donʻt even get me started on how we often had to squeeze into boxes to be eligible for funding!
Hawaiʻi Peopleʻs Fund offers a solution to this scarcity survival mode and potential mission drift ~ we KNOW the communities we serve already HAVE the power, they HAVE the solutions. By redirecting community-raised resources to fuel that power, together weʻre amplifying the reach of their crucial work, and inviting even more goodness in ;)
