✊🏾 Fund the Change: Celebrating 50 Years of the Hawaiʻi People’s Fund
Help us redistribute community waiwai to those huli-ing the system.
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
Since 1972, Hawaiʻi Peopleʻs Fund has helped to support, build capacity for, and amplify the impact of grassroots social change movements in Hawaiʻi.
While supplies last, anyone who becomes a recurring donor or donates more than $100 will receive a free art print from renowned local artist @alohawares (on IG)! |
HPF was born in the stand against wealthy developers who threatened to evict farmers at Kalama Valley — what Haunani Kay Trask called “The Birth of the Modern Hawaiian Movement.”
From fueling labor movements organized by regular workers to supporting those who are fighting for sacred ʻāina, the People’s Fund has remained a steadfast force, quietly funding radical movements for more than 50 years.
Today, the People’s Fund continues to fill a unique role in Hawaii’s philanthropic landscape, funding those orgs who may be too grassroots or too radical for mainstream funders, often serving as an organization’s first grant. With a focus on indigenous self determination, food sovereignty, protecting ʻāina, and other issues in pursuit of pono, the People’s Fund remains laser focused on the kuleana in it’s mission.
As a lifelong supporter of the People’s Fund, I humbly ask for your support this year as we ramp up to make grants to a new cohort of grassroots groups organizing community and advancing lāhui.
100% of your tax-deductible donation will be used to support positive change in Hawaiʻi.
