Let's nurture community together
Join me on my GP23 journey!
Aloha!
I am honored to be journeying once again with Hawai‘i People's Fund's Giving Project, a cross-class, cross-race cohort of folks coming together to nourish change-making work led by grassroots communities throughout Hawai‘i. I invite you to consider what sustenance you could offer to help nourish these communities.
I have undeniably been shaped, at the core of who I am, by having grown up in Hawai‘i. I am lucky to have been raised with the kind of abundance of community that comes from calling strangers "Aunty" and "Uncle," getting jabong and mangoes from neighbors, and attending countless potlucks.
The organizations HPF supports have stretched my vision of community care even further, to include pushing for legislative action to get free period products in schools, teaching people how to grow and eat ancestral foods, and tending to the places and ecosystems that sustain the more-than-human community we depend upon.
If Hawai‘i is a place that has shaped you in some way too, how can you give back to Hawai‘i? Step into community with us. Feed community power. Any amount you can give is more than a gift of solidarity--it is also an action that directly supports greater capacity for small groups of people making mighty change happen in the places they have loved and been shaped by, all over Hawai‘i.
