Letʻs do this, ʻohana!

Aloha!

Iʻm reaching in to share about Hawai’i People's Fund Giving Project, an amazing cohort Iʻm participating in alongside 18 other changemakers seeking to radically transform the way we move money to movements for real change from the roots up. Our hui is working together virtually and in-person to learn about and connect with grassroots organizations here at home, deepen our understanding of Hawaiʻi’s unique history and contemporary social justice principles, and engage in collective liberation learning and practices to amplify and illuminate social change efforts throughout our pae ʻāina. The Giving Project interweaves a cross-class, cross-race, gender-diverse, intergenerational collective that shares a vision for a just and equitable Hawaiʻi to apply our time, talent, and resources to supporting movements for social change by uplifting, advocating for, and raising funds to support HPFʻs community partners who are combatting systems of oppression, everyday.

Iʻm mostly interested in building waiwai (weath) & pilina (closeness) to these grassroots huis from within my networks. I invite you to join me on this journey in any way thatʻs meaningful to you ~ you can give, as I have, or volunteer with these huis where you live or when you visit each moku. OR you can become an advocate within your own network! Perhaps youʻre unable to give, but someone in your network can!

My fundshifting goal is $2,500. Even $10 can make a HUGE impact ~ just imagine ~ if everyone in my network gave $10, we could totally reach this goal together! And if everyone shared the opportunity with their networks, weʻd get there even faster! The collective power weʻre learning about in Giving Project is so far reaching ~ what Iʻm able to raise will be swirled around with the efforts of everyone in the cohort! Our overall goal is to raise $100,000, which will be shifted directly to the huis weʻre learning about and advocating for. Check out the map below!

I love Hawaiʻi, and I knew I wanted to participate in something meaningful to advance social justice in the islands. That's why I joined Giving Project, and why Iʻm sharing my journey with my ʻohana and friends,—and you can be a part of it!

About Hawaiʻi Peopleʻs Fund: HPF supports, funds, and amplifies the work of Hawaiʻi-based grassroots organizations challenging systems of oppression. HPF is the only organization in the world specifically addressing the needs of grassroots progressive movement builders in Hawaiʻi by directing community-raised funds and progressive funding opportunities to those on the ground engaged in the work.
