$1,138 towards $4,000

In the year 2020, I was looking around and finding my world lacking. I was seeking a way to act in the world that would directly impact things for the better. I found my answer in Hawai‘i Peopleʻs Fund, whose mission is to support, fund, and amplify the work of Hawai‘i-based grassroots organizations challenging systems of oppression. I quickly discovered that almost any non-profit organization doing super cool change work in Hawai‘i has benefitted or been in community with Hawai‘i Peopleʻs Fund in some way over the past 51 years. Many now-”household names” such as Ma‘o Organic Farms and Protect Kaho‘olawe ‘Ohana got their first grants from HPF.

This year, Hawai‘i People's Fund's Giving Project is hoping to collectively raise $100,000 to make grants to non-profit organizations doing important social change work in Hawai‘i.

Joining the Hawai‘i People's Fund community is the best way to make a big impact for social change in Hawai‘i. HPF funds organizations across all islands that are doing truly grassroots, aloha ‘āina, mālama ‘āina, revolutionary resistance work. To see what HPF's community is like, follow them on Instagram, TikTok @hawaiipeoplesfund and Facebook!

When the injustices and inequities of the world feel insurmountable, being connected to HPF gives me hope and a sense of empowerment. This is an invitation for you to feel the same sense of connected power through action, and a challenge to share this effort with every person in your network who you think could benefit from supporting HPF as well! Iʻm currently asking folks to give to HPF in increments of $20 to represent the way that this organization has carried me through my late 20ʻs and is carrying us all through our collective 20ʻs (in terms of decades).

Mahalo nui for joining me in spreading this message far and wide, chipping in any amount you can to build a future for Hawai‘i in which there is community care, peace, and gloriously thriving ‘āina.
