Aloha Beautiful Soul,
From January through May, I am immersed in the Hawai'i People's Fund's Giving Project, joined by 18 other curious and committed individuals seeking to revolutionize our approach to funding movements for genuine change, as Audre Lorde once said, "Without community, there is no liberation." This transformative initiative, rooted in social justice, offers a space that is both innovative and intentional, fostering collaboration among diverse groups of people. Together, we weave a tapestry of shared values, passions, and abilities; guided by our ancestors, each other and our commitment to the wellbeinng of our community.
The Giving Project forms a cross-class, cross-race, gender-diverse, intergenerational collective united by a vision of a just and equitable Hawai'i. With this project we dedicate our time, talent, and resources to supporting movements for social change.Our mission is to uplift, advocate for, and raise funds for HPF's community partners who confront systems of oppression daily. Working virtually and in-person, our hui (group) explores and connects with grassroots organizations across our islands, deepening our comprehension of Hawai'i's distinct history and contemporary social justice principles. Through collective liberation learning and practices, we strive to amplify and illuminate social change efforts throughout our pae 'āina (land).
I am deeply committed to social justice and supporting community members who directly contribute to positive changes in Hawai'i. My decision to engage in this meaningful endeavor stems from a desire to advance social justice in on these islands. That's why I've embarked on this journey as a fundshifter, sharing my experiences with my family and friends, inviting you to join me in this transformative journey.
