"E Iho Ana O Luna, E Piʻi Ana O Lalo, E Hui Ana Nā Moku, E Kū Ana Ka Paia." (the prophecy of Kapihe), translating to "That which is above shall be brought down, that which is below shall be lifted up, the islands shall be united, the walls shall stand upright."

Some believe that this prophecy foretold the unity of the Hawaiʻian islands under the rain of Kamehameha the Great but from the viewpoint of Kauaʻi "The Unconquered Kingdom", my Kumu inspire the idea that this prophecy is a means to a future of Hawaiian sovereignty. Today the cries of this oli continue to echo through nā pali of our Ahupuaʻaʻs. This powerful message mirrors teachings found across diverse cultures and religions worldwide, advocating for a reversal of fortunes, emphasizing humility, justice, and the collective good over individual gain.

Christianity: Luke (1:52-53) Islam:Surah Al-Asr (103:1-3) Hinduism: Bhagavad Gita Buddhism: "wheel of life" Judaism: Book of Esther

These universal principles resonate deeply with my personal journey and the collective kuleana (responsibility) we share in fostering social change in Hawaiʻi. As members of this vibrant community, it's our duty to support and uplift those who strive to combat systems of oppression, advocating for a just and equitable society.

I'm honored to represent Ahupuaʻa o Lawaʻi, Kauaʻi as a member of the 2024 Hawaiʻi People's Fund's Giving Project Hue. This project is an innovative platform that transcends traditional fundraising methods, fostering radical transformation by moving money to movements that drive real change from the grassroots level. It creates a safe and brave space for collaboration among diverse groups, uniting us through shared values, passions, and abilities focused on intergenerational progress and socio-cultural wellbeing.

The Giving Project is a unique blend of cross-class, cross-race, gender-diverse, and intergenerational collectives, sharing a vision for a just and equitable Hawaiʻi. We dedicate our time, talent, and resources to support movements for social change by uplifting and advocating for Hawaiʻi non-profits dedicated to social change. These grassroots organizations fight against oppression daily, working towards the liberation and wellbeing of our communities across the pae ʻāina.

My dedication to give back to Hawaiʻi and the communities that have raised me, supported me and given me the tools to survive the transition from Keiki to Adulthood, has lead to a deep desire to fight against injustice here. I created this fundshifter as a means to share my journey with my ʻohana and friends. By supporting the Hawaiʻi People's Fund's Giving Project, we embrace our kuleana, contributing to a legacy of change and progress that connects us with the Past/Present/Future of the ʻĀina, our lineage, and the universal call for equity and justice.

My unwavering belief is that within these principles lie the solutions for ultimate sustainability and longterm survival. This prophecy, echoing through the ages and nā pali of our islands, calls us to a future where Hawaiian sovereignty and unity illuminate a path forward. It's a path that champions balance and respect for the land, all animals and each other, principles that are not only foundational to Hawaiian culture but are also universally recognized keystones of sustainable living. When we choose to listen to the ancestral wisdom of the Kānaka ʻŌiwi and the profound insights within the Hawaiian Culture, we are reminded that our survival hinges on our role as stewards of the ʻĀina and a symbiotic relationship with nature and each other. By embracing this ike, we commit to a future where the well-being of our communities and the health of our environment are inextricably linked, guiding us towards a sustainable and thriving Hawaiʻi for generations to come.
