Social Change from the ROOTS UP!

Yups, itʻs THAT TIME AGAIN! Giving Project 2024, an AH-MAZING collection of humans, is joining a proud lineage of community advocates determined to radically transform the way we move money to movements for real change from the roots up. Now in its 4th run, HPFʻs Giving Project reimagines philanthropy by dissolving the lines between philanthropy and activism by creating avenues for folx wanting to plug in and do more to support HPFʻs grassroots BANGAHZ who are out there everyday changing Hawaiʻi for the better.
HPF has prided itself for over 50 years as the premiere social change funder in Hawaiʻi, supporting, funding, and amplifying the work of Hawaiʻi-based grassroots organizations actively challenging systems of oppression. Our mission has always focused on nourishing grassroots-led CHANGE, and we'll continue to support our partnersʻ growth and capacity to cultivate resiliency across the pae ʻāina now and into the future. As we saw with the devastating events that unfolded in Maui last August, HPFʻs Grantees pivoted to mutual aid organizing while keeping long-term systems change in mind, which makes sense considering that the majority of their constituencies tend to be experiencing the highest degrees of vulnerability (both from health and economic perspectives) and are disproportionately impacted. Supporting the ongoing capacity of grassroots changemakers through innovative mechanisms like Giving Project is absolutely necessary to sustain the momentum of long-term strategy, and continuing to advocate and support them regularly, is critical to ensure the ecosystem of change is ready to respond when crisis hits.
