Hello friends and family!
From January through May, Iʻm participating in Hawaiʻi Peopleʻs Fundʻs Giving Project seeking to radically transform the way we move money to movements for real change in the Hawaiian Islands. This innovative, inclusive, intentional vessel creates intergenerational progress and socio-cultural wellbeing.
Hawaiʻi People's Fund (HPF) is the only organization in the world specifically addressing the needs of grassroots progressive movement builders in Hawaiʻi by directing community-raised funds to those on the ground engaged in the work.
Founded in 1972 in response to Native Hawaiian families facing eviction in Kalama Valley, Oʻahu (where I grew up), HPF is comprised of community members that annually select a cohort of Hawaiʻi-based organizations to support through "fundshifting" efforts. Our hui is deepening our understanding of Hawaiʻi’s unique history and contemporary social justice principles, and engaging in collective learning and practices to amplify social change efforts throughout the islands.
I love Hawaiʻi, and I've always wanted to participate in something meaningful to advance social justice in the islands. This is it! And you can be a part of it!
